TRIEL TRIP JUNE 2026

Four day trip to our twinning town

We are delighted to advise that we are planning a visit to our Friends in Triel from  4th – 7th of June 2026.

We know that many of you were disappointed that we were unable to visit Triel in 2025,  so this is a great chance to reconnect with our old friends and a welcome opportunity for those of you visiting Triel for the first time.

More details will follow when we know more, but if existing members are interested, please let us know by email.  There is no obligation at present we just want to get some idea of numbers.  Prospective members would also be most welcome on the trip, and to find out more, please just use the “Find Out More” form on the website.
BOULOGNE TRIP SEPTEMBER 2025

Trip to Boulogne using Le Shuttle

As we were unable to arrange a trip to Triel in 2025, we decided instead to go to Boulogne for one night, using LeShuttle.  Seven of us went on the trip in September and we had a great time in this lovely town. We walked around the walls, visited the castle and its museum, the cathedral and its vast crypt, and walked along the huge beach. A selection of photos from the trip are shown in the gallery – click here to see these.
SUMMER GARDEN PARTY

Garden party in September 2025

We held a delightful summer garden party at Elaine and David Crutchley’s house on 6 September 2025.

We had a good turnout and attendees brought an excellent range of sweet and savoury dishes, and the association provided drinks.  We were very pleased to welcome some new members at the party, which has become an annual event for members.

Thanks to all of you who attended, including many who were new to our group! I am sure you will all agree that we had a fun night!

We had some great raffle prizes again this year, the top prize being a week’s holiday at a delightful cottage near the coast of Suffolk!

STOP PRESS…OUR 2026 QUIZ WILL BE ON 26 APRIL 2026  – FURTHER DETAILS IN DUE COURSE.

LOCAL WALKS

Walks in the local area

Each year, we organise local walks, usually followed by Tea and Cakes.  For example, in 2025 we went on the newly designed Bookham Trails which cover Great and Little Bookham and the old hamlet of Eastwick. We then had tea and cakes at the home of David and Elaine Crutchley, who very kindly hosted the walking group.

PRACTICE YOUR FRENCH

Conversation group

These are held approximately monthly, at a mutually agreeable day and time.  There is a wide range of french proficiency in the group, so whatever level you are, you will be very welcome.

FILMS

French film outings

We organise regular trips to see French films (with sub-titles).  For example, in January 2025, ten of us went to the Ciné Lumière at the French Institute in London to see the 2006 film, Marie Antoinette.

We also host french films at a member’s home – for example, some of us recently enjoyed watching the 2005 Oscar-nominated film, Les Choristes.
